Zifere Eulogized Father's Anniversary

Ogbeinama stands still for the prestigious family of Pa Zifere Tenman Oyabogha aka Owei Akanbara as they celebrated his 28th death anniversary in an epoch making narrative. The day, 8th March 2024 was unprecedented with several traditional and cultural activities as exemplified by Pa Oyabogha Tenman Zifere during his lifetime as a community leader.
The morning procession by his children, grandchildren ,great grandchildren and well wishers was a spectacle beyond the conventional owu ogele. The colourful enthusiasm of the masquerade display was sheerly entertaining , vibrating the sociological embers of Abalamo ( a masquerade, historically traced to Pa Oyabogha Tenman Zifere in 1960) who brought it to Ogbeinama during one of his fishing expeditions in Akassa . Aside the canoe carving and fishing competitions with mouth watering awards .There was also a novelty football match between the six quarters of the town. Hon . Sunday Zifere , first surviving son of Pa Oyabogha Tenman Zifere, the brain behind the anniversary, was there on the pitch with his numerous followers to cheer up the players .
The night was rejuvenated with the breathtaking performance of the fast rising Ijaw highlife music talents . The band delved into the ever green Owigiri rhythms of the legendary King Robert Ebizimor evergreens. Guests from all walks of life turned up in their numbers to celebrate the life and death of Pa Oyabogha Tenman Zifere in grand style. It was clearly a day of tributes and accolades for the Zifere family. Sunday Zifere , a renowned philanthropist and politician, when eulogizing his father, reaffirmed the natural knowledge in traditions and leadership of his father despite not privileged to get formal education. In his words : 'My father was not privileged to attend school but he was reckoned by the town and society for his natural knowledge, wisdom in business and politics .He was great community leader and orator. In fact my father was actively involved in partisan politics during the Second Republic of 1979. He was not a mere member of UP.N but was very influential in the party. In the 3rd Republic , he became the chairman of SDP in Ogbeinama town in 1992 and paved way for some of the contemporary politicians of Bomadi Local Government Area.
My father was believed to be the first Ijaw man to go on long fishing expeditions in the sea, at times, spending months at sea, daring scourging weathers and dangerous tides . My father was born in 1926 and died in 1996 at the age of 70 , during one of his fishing expeditions, killed by thunderous weather adjacent his home town Ogbeinama. He died as the eldest man of Tekeme Quarter. He was maternally from Ombukuware Quarter of Enekorogha town, Burutu LGA. Today, I am elated to celebrate the life and death of my father. You can see, my wives ,children and grandchildren are all here to pay him this deserving respect. We owe him an unconditional respect, we will continue to owe his this respect even as we continue to immortalize his legacies. "
Xtrim News gathered , Pa Oyabogha Tenman Zifere was survived by a step daughter Mrs. Omoro Agbetu an two sons , Chief Hon.Sunday Zifere and Jacob Zifere with over 165 grand and great grand children.
