The Niger Delta Development Commission Fails to Defend 185 Billion Naira Budget
The Senate committee chairman on Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC), Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi lambasts the interim executives of the board for submitting a very faulty budget proposal to the joint committee of the National Assembly.
The senator , made this statement when addressing journalists after the inconclusive budget defence headed by the acting managing director/ Chief executive officer of the regional board , Prof. kemebradikumo Pondei.
According to reports, the NDDC submitted a budget of 183 billion with a conflicting figure of 260 billion in the appendix page and 120 million naira in the Summary page which the Senate is expected to work with.
This clearly embarrassing and statling discrepancies propels the NDDC board to request from the senate committee another opportunity to let them review necessary documents for a possible subsequent presentation.
Though, the request was granted but the committee expresses huge disappointment in the NDDC interim board that is likely unprepared and confusing with financial figures .
Other members in the committee also express their displeasure in the interim board, styling it as a complete mirage.
According to the joint committee, that's , both the Senate and House of Representatives, it's patient enough to wait for Prof. Pondei and his colleagues to put their house in order before coming again for another defence of the so called budget.
This is coming at a time the NDDC board is engrossed in financial misappropriation and scandals with the Ministry of Niger-Delta headed by the controversial Godswill Akpabio.
Xtrim News authoritatively comfirms, there is uneasiness in the board right now because of the numerous allegations of corrupt and nepotistic practices going on .
