Deltans Continue to Disregard Government Directives on Covid-19
In the midst of the increasing number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, Deltans have continue to bluntly flout the precautionary guidelines despite warning from the state government.
Xtrim confirms, thousands of people still walk around without facemasks. Banks , churches , motor parks ,mosques do not observe the social distancing regulations any longer.
Markets in major towns like Asaba, Warri, Ughelli, Sapele ,Agbor , Abraka, Bomadi are thronged with careless crowds without any sign or obeying the precautionary guidelines.
Churches are filled to capacity with 90% of members not wearing facemasks or observing the social distancing order.
Hotels , especially in Oleh, ughelli, Bomadi , Kwale are operating out door bars with night clubing .
Tricycles and motorists are carrying above the specified number of passengers.
Most supermarkets , retail outlets or shops have no washing pockets, hand sanitizers and towels.
The curfew put in place by the Delta State government is not observed in almost everywhere especially in Oleh, Bomadi and Ughelli as people move freely in the night without facemasks.
There are marriage , funeral and birthday ceremonies taking place with complete disregard to the NCDC guidelines on Covid-19.
Speaking to Xtrim News , a senior Special assistant to the Gov. Okowa on security, Hon. Victor Ezebri says, the governor is not happy with the way Deltans are risking their lives in this peculiar times when self discipline supposed to be our watchword. In his words, "Our amiable governor is doing his best to make Delta safe from Covid-19 and it will only be reasonable if we supported him. The governor, as a medical doctor is not happy about the flouting of the precautionary guidelines by some people and will not relent in lawfully punishing offenders.We should acknowledge the huge efforts the governor has put positively in curbing the spread of Covid-19." He says.
It will be recalled, the commissioner for information, who just recovered from Covid-19 reveals government plan to establish more mobile courts to deal with offenders as it has become necessary.
Delta State Covid-19 cases have climbed to 1,200 within three months with the governor, his wife,daughter and chief of staff also tested positive for Coronavirus.
Some Deltans who are not also happy about the way people are trivializing this pandemic,ask for Gov.Okowa to once again lock down the state for the benefit of all .
Xtrim News asks some Deltans, particularly market women , Keke and Okada riders about the Coronavirus, not surprising though, they all see the pandemic as a scam and not existing despite the infections and deaths ravaging the country through Covid-19.
